4 Tips for Good Social Media Content

Jan 05, 2022

Do you own or operate your own business? With the rising number of entrepreneurs, there is a good chance that you or someone close to you does. Owning a business means you will always be in search of new customers to purchase your products or services. One way of finding new customers or new leads is through social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, and others. With a fairly large number of such social media websites entertaining their millions of users, these platforms are not only able to connect you with new and old friends, but they can also find people who may be interested in visiting your website to learn more about the products or services that you sell. Social media is indeed one of the most powerful online marketing strategies used by businesses to gain more traffic to their website. However, one must keep in mind that results from it may take time to be realized. Building relationships with potential clients online takes patience as you build your reputation as an informative and helpful guru in your field. Providing your audience with quality information on your website and then sharing all or parts of that information on social media can help you build those relationships. How can you provide good content?

1. Well Written Content

For one, written content needs to be well-written. This means that you need to create content that is easy to read, relevant, entertaining, and also comes across as professional. It is important for your business’ reputation that your content makes sense and contains little to no errors. You wouldn’t believe how much it can undermine a brand when the content is written using poor English or is filled with typos and poor spelling. Clients trust that your company knows what they are doing and therefore content with too many errors makes it difficult for them to have confidence in your business.

2. Clear Content

The content for social media and your website should complete the objective of communicating the point to its audience. That means you should try to avoid unnecessarily flowery language and instead focus on getting the message across in as simple a way as possible. Forget grand vocabulary and showing off your grand knowledge of the English knowledge. Keep it simple and use common words. Our world has many distractions and when your audience is reading, there is a good chance they will have a distraction or two. Make sure your content is simple enough to understand so that even those who are not giving their full attention will get the gist of your content.

3. Content With a Unique Selling Point

Content for your site and social media would also benefit from having a USP, or rather a “unique selling point.” In other words, it needs to be different from other content on the web in some way. Your audience has the opportunity to view hundreds of other sites where they can find similar information. So then, why should they get it from you? Aim to make your content objectively different. Make it stand out in some way. Consider a humorous style, a devil’s advocate view, a unique topic, a comparison of industry ideas, or a crazy angle/perspective on a common subject. Use additional content to support written content. Images, videos or other visuals are great to drive your content’s point across or add interest to what you have already written.

4. Leave Your Audience Better Off

Remember too that, dramatic as it may sound, good content improves lives. In other words, your audience needs to be better off for having consumed your content. This means you should work hard to post content that will entertain, inform, or both! You also want to be as positive as possible with your content. Studies have shown that positive content is shared more.
